Have you ever wondered why you see the same practices in the veterinary trade press all the time?

We all know how tough it is to hire vets and nurses right now.

There’s so few candidates and so many roles, it can feel like there’s no chance of making our vacancies stand out in the crowd.

Well, what if we told you that one of our partner practices received 1,055,972 views on their job ads in 2022 alone?

Yep, that’s a big number. How did we do it?
One word: PR.

Pennard needed to find a way to stand out from the crowd and highlight its credentials as the industry’s employer of choice for ambitious veterinary professionals.

We put together an ongoing PR campaign to highlight everything that makes Pennard special.

That includes being an employee ownership trust, meaning every member of their team is a shareholder in the business, and boasting unrivalled green, sustainable and ethical standards, which saw the company become Europe’s first B Corp certified practice earlier this year.

We also used the campaign to continuously promote how the Pennard team have been providing care and support to pets and their owners in Kent since 1895.

PR Campaign for Pennard Vets


We made a list of possible opportunities, which was then narrowed down into a final 12 – one key piece of activity a month throughout the year.


The aim was to generate high levels of positive media coverage across the veterinary trade media, the regional news and business press in Kent, as well as local TV and radio.


Our stories included:


  • Pennard becoming the first veterinary practice in Europe to become B Corp certified, following a rigorous accreditation process <Read more>

If you’re not impressed enough by over one million link clicks to job ads, we’ve got some more stats for you to check out: 


  • The campaign has delivered more than 80 pieces of online, print and broadcast media coverage since the start of 2022

  • Those one million clicks had an advertising value equivalent of over £50,000 – against a project cost of under one tenth of that sum

  • A 156% increase in the number of vets who were interviewed from 2021 to 2022

  • And most importantly… 14 new vets were hired to Pennard Vets in the calendar year
