I’m still riding the high and honestly, the shock – of being named part of the London Vet Show Class of 2025 30 Under Thirty.

I was incredibly lucky to have been nominated by my wonderful colleagues. They put my name forward in recognition of the drive and range of experiences I’ve pursued alongside my clinical EMS: from working as a freelance marketing executive for Practice Made Purrfect, to careers coaching at the University of Liverpool, creating content, completing a business internship at Bishopton Vets, and volunteering with wildlife and rescue animals in Thailand and Aruba.

The nomination meant that my amazing colleagues and I got to attend the renowned London Vet Show, an event that reminds all of us why we’re so proud to be part of this rewarding, challenging and ever-evolving profession. As it was my first time attending LVS, I was genuinely astonished by the sheer scale of the event.

Major corporates showcased their influence, namely Vets for Pets, whose AI Photo Booth fun, unlimited barista coffees, branded travel mugs, live band, “party in the park” and open bar created a standout presence. From a final-year vet student’s perspective, they left a brilliant impression. Their team was engaging, enthusiastic and clearly focused on attracting new talent, from fresh graduates to experienced clinicians looking to take on practice ownership.

Independents also held their own with real passion and strength. Highlights included our very own Practice Made Purrfect client Pennard Vets’ exhibition stand, as well as the collaborative community of the XLVets group, of which two more of our wonderful clients – Bishopton Vets and Fenton Vets – are proud members. I was kindly invited to their delicious tapas lunch, where I had the chance to meet some fantastic independent practice owners, including Shaun Sinclair from Fenton Vets. We even enjoyed a bit of friendly rivalry over which vet school reigns supreme – Liverpool or Edinburgh (Liverpool, of course!).

Alongside the abundance of impressive veterinary practices, the show floor was packed with cutting-edge innovations in medical technology, marketing, and insurance solutions – not to mention the ever-growing presence of AI in every corner of veterinary care. Lupa, the AI-powered veterinary PMS, was particularly hard to miss, with their energetic team in purple hoodies and eye-catching inflatable rat costumes dominating the scene. I attended an inspiring talk by their CEO and Head of AI on how independent clinics can leverage AI tools to stay competitive. Their platform promises to tackle nearly every PMS headache, while taking on functions that are deeply embedded in current systems – a mammoth undertaking that, if successful, could become a major and exciting disruptor within the veterinary landscape.

As a soon-to-be graduate preparing to take the leap into practice, the experience was inspiring, a little overwhelming, and left me with plenty to think about for the future.

Colleagues, friends and even my parents – who made the trip down from Yorkshire – joined me at the evening awards ceremony, where we were welcomed with a very well-received glass of bubbles and the chance to meet my brilliant Class of 2025 peers. Celebrating such a diverse range of achievements was a vivid reminder of why I love this profession so much: the people who make it what it is. A huge thank-you to Pioneer Veterinary Products and the Thirty Under 30 team for organising such a memorable evening – which, naturally, flowed into more bubbles and celebrations at the LVS happy hour (which, I’m reliably informed, seems to stretch later every year…).

It truly was an incredible experience, and I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity at such an early stage in my career. It was also the first time the PMP team met up together IRL, which made the day even more special!
