Malthouse Vets

How much can one team achieve in 90 days?

When we started working with Malthouse Vets in early 2025 we had a clear brief – deliver a  health plan that included unlimited consultations.

And we had 90 days in which to do it.

Now we often have deadlines. In fact, you’ll often hear us say that without deadlines, nothing gets done. But it isn’t usually quite this finite.

We tend to have ongoing relationships with our clients. So to put this level of time pressure on the job was novel, and motivating.

What we’ve achieved together in those three months is a source of real pride, both for Malthouse owner Dr Natalie Morris-Webb and for the Practice Made Purrfect team.

Not only did we launch the Malthouse Wellness Plan, we also delivered a super looking website, wrote the brand story, overhauled the practice’s reminders and helped coordinate a photoshoot which will keep things looking fresh for years to come.

Here’s a look back at our productivity whirlwind through Shropshire.

Building the foundation

Nat and her practice are charismatic, fun to work with – and presumably fun to visit as a patient or client!

That’s a marketeer’s dream, but with a one page website that was almost impossible to edit and no real presence outside of Instagram which Nat took the lead on, there wasn’t loads of content out there to work with.

So the first thing we did was sit down with Nat to learn about her practice, her team and her journey, then to sift through that conversation to look for ideas we could hang the brand off. And the conversation was full of them.

The fun part of the job is where you get to be creative.

Brown bear sitting down

When Nat told us she was obsessed with bears, how could we use that? Well, if you ring the practice and the Malthouse team of reception ninjas happen to miss you, you’ll be treated to five facts about bears in the on hold messaging.

We hung the brand off Nat as the Eiffel Tower – the owner, lead vet and focus point of an independent, family-run practice – with the callout for clients to pop in to the practice whenever they’re passing for a brew, with only Yorkshire tea bags allowed.

That then paved the way perfectly for launching an unlimited consult health plan.

The other seed we sowed early was a need for more and better photography of the team. We provided the direction and the plan and Nat coordinated this with a local photographer to get this sorted within our 90 days.

The new website and wellness plan are just the first projects that will benefit from these snaps for years to come.

The big ticket items

Malthouse had a Pet Health Club that was attracting fan mail from IVC’s legal department and had around 350 members when we first started working together. The aim was to create a plan with an unlimited consult offering, which could attract a higher percentage of the practice’s clients.

At the same time the website wasn’t up to the same high standards of the in-practice experience. Just a single web page with limited photography, content or self-serve options for clients. It was doing nothing to help Nat achieve her financial or business goals

There’s a lot of legwork that goes into building a successful health plan – and we’ve talked about it in detail elsewhere on our website.

The secret is to build a package of benefits the team really believes in and then to agree on a price to sell it at that makes it a no brainer for clients.

The other thing we had to iron out was a name. Everyone involved liked the idea of coming up with something quirky. We considered The Half Pint and The Full Pint in honour of the heritage of the building. Ultimately, the clarity of the Malthouse Wellness Plan won out!

Similarly, the website needed hours of planning, copywriting, design work and building.

One of the great things about our team is that we have all of those skills in-house, meaning we can speed things along with full accountability.

90 days isn’t a long time – but we got there!

Releasing our work into the wild

Putting your work to the public and seeing how it lands is the best part of the job – so much passion and energy goes into it, but effort counts for nothing if your audience isn’t impressed.

First came the website, a modern, slick site full of calls to action and utility for clients looking to access Malthouse services at any time of the day.

Then the Malthouse Wellness Plan, with leaflets, posters, socials, letters and emails.

We also decided to tackle Malthouse’s reminders, weaving the Malthouse Wellness Plan into every one to remind clients that if they were paying for their consults, vaccinations or parasite treatments, they needn’t be!

And of course, tweaking reminders meant deploying our Google review tactic, to supercharge our Google profile – at the time of writing that number sits at 120, nearly double what it was in February, and the praise for Nat and her team that clients have submitted is truly heart-warming.

So much output in so little time.

We often have the pleasure of feeling proud of the work we do, and this is one is no different.

We’re hopeful we’ll work with Nat and the Malthouse team again, but in the meantime the effort we’ve all put in over the three months should reap rewards for years to come.

"After seeing Justin speak at SPVS, I knew straight away this was someone I wanted to collaborate with! We used him to create a new Pet Health Plan, and supercharge our marketing in general. The weekly meetings work really well and ensure we are held accountable. Justin and his team are all fantastic, will definitely be using them again in the future!"
